The Second Circumcision of Freedom
The second circumcision of freedom happened through the godly benevolence of the Organisation. The self was an imperfect vessel to be purified by daily ingestion of holy scripture, selfless salvation of lost sheep, by godly acts and deeds that left no place for experimenting with worldly things. By the age of fourteen Kahdee had attended approximately one thousand four hundred and four religious meetings, and had dedicated somewhere near to three hundred hours to the saving of lost sheep. Then, when she was nineteen, Kahdee had an epiphany, not the one she had been told she would have. It was revealed to her one afternoon as she walked through the narrow streets of Pointe Michel. She was reflecting on the events of the previous evening, events that included painful guilt-ridden sex, when it occurred to her that she had misread her calling, that she much preferred goats to sheep; she discovered in herself a sudden distaste for the latter. They were slow, lumbering, of a gullible and slow-witted nature.
